DESCRIPTON:
Strategically located in the heart of Vida Multiespacio, opposite the Rock&Feller’s gastronomic hub, the project assumes a leading role in an environment with high pedestrian and vehicular flow. Far from being a hermetic container, the building is posed as a large showcase. It seeks to dilute the boundary between the exterior commercial promenade and the interior exhibition space, inviting the passerby to be part of the spatial experience even before entering.
The project's identity lies in its envelope. It is conceived as a pure volume, clad in a white, striated metal skin (vertical micro-corrugated sheet), which provides a contemporary, clean, and ethereal image. The key morphological operation is the "lifting of the curtain": at its corners and entrances, the solid metal skin curves and lifts organically, revealing a transparent glazed core. This gesture not only marks the entrance hierarchies but also metaphorizes the action of unveiling the design object, transforming the architecture itself into the first piece of furniture on display.
If the exterior is lyrical and abstract purity, the interior is warmth and texture. As a furniture showroom, the interior architecture avoids competing with the objects; instead, it creates a habitable "canvas." The extensive use of wood in cladding and the sculptural ceilings contrast with the exterior metallic coldness, generating a domestic and welcoming atmosphere. The spatiality is characterized by its fluidity:
_The Double Height: Visually connects the Ground Floor with the mezzanine, granting monumentality to the entrance.
_The Sculptural Staircase: A curved element that accompanies the facade's language and dynamizes the vertical circulation.
Natural lighting plays a structuring role. In addition to the large perimeter glazed area, the roof incorporates a series of inverted truncated pyramidal elements. These devices function as "light funnels" that bathe the central space, creating focal points and scenographic drama over the furniture pieces, while simultaneously functioning as massive air conditioning nozzles and qualifying the workspace and exhibition area.
DLF Amoblamientos is not just a retail store; it is an exhibition pavilion. Its design resolves the paradox of being an iconic and striking object outwardly, while maintaining a human and intimate scale inwardly. A box of light and wood that lifts its edges to dialogue with the vibrant urban life of Funes.
